      1. Memory Makers (all-day) @ Memory Makers, Heritage Drive, Oxford, MS

        Memory Makers is open Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. with group size limited to 12 participants plus the volunteers. Memory Makers is based on a social model that provides a structured setting where participants enjoy group activities such as exercise, socialization, and craft-making. They also benefit from reminiscing, story-teling, music therapy and art therapy. Memory Makers is a respite care service that serves those with dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.

        Participants pay a small daily fee to cover the cost of snacks, drinks, and supplies; participants and volunteers also bring a sandwich for lunch. Snacks, desserts, and beverages are provided.

        Memory Makers is located behind Applebee’s off Heritage Drive in Oxford, Mississippi.

      1. Lovepacks (all-day) @ Lovepacks, The Square, Oxford, Mississippi
        Aug 5

        Volunteers are needed to pack bags of food each Tuesday at 9 a.m. that can be easily opened by school-aged children (in the Lafayette Oxford community) for weekends and holiday weeks. Lovepacks works through school counselors to identify children in need. The organization operates through donations and food drives through the community.

        Each Lovepack contains easy to open, single-serve food such as: cereal, meat/pasta, soup, veggies, fruit, dessert, crackers, juice, shelf-stable milk. The school administrators and counselors discreetly slip the Lovepacks into the children’s backpack on Friday before they leave school.

        Help serve a meal to those in need & help More Than a Meal make a difference each Tuesday from 5 to 7 p.m. Volunteers interested in tutoring, please let More Than a Meal know because there are students in need of tutoring during this time, as well. Email
