Volunteer Oxford’s mission is to develop, promote, and support volunteerism for Lafayette-Oxford-University. We are currently expanding our services for nonprofits to Pontotoc County and Yalobusha County. We are 1 of 8 volunteer centers in the state of Mississippi. Volunteer Oxford allows access to a variety of volunteer opportunities in the community. We are also the community nonprofits and organizations’ resource for locating and recruiting volunteers when needed for projects and events. Volunteer Oxford engages the community by acting as a “matchmaker” for volunteers and nonprofits in Lafayette-Oxford-University. Volunteers can create a volunteer account and receive updated weekly volunteer opportunities via email. Sarah Ball, Director of Volunteer Oxford, started in the position late July, 2013. Sarah is no stranger to volunteer recruitment, having spent two years as a director of a non-profit organization taught her the importance and great value of volunteers. Before joining Volunteer Oxford, Sarah worked five years for the North Mississippi Regional Center (NMRC) in the Recreation Therapy Department. During her last two years at the NMRC she served as the Director of Area 4 Special Olympics Mississippi. In this role, Sarah was responsible for planning, managing, and executing local games. Sarah holds a B.S. degree in Exercise Science and a M.A. degree in Parks and Recreation Management, both from the University of Mississippi. Outside of professional interests, she is an exercise enthusiast, likes outdoor activities, and enjoys living in Oxford and spending time with her two dogs.
